Why IT success always starts with ‘Learn’

At CIMSOLUTIONS, the vision is clear: Learn, Create, and make it work.
Three powerful words, but it is no coincidence that Learn comes first.
After all, without learning, you cannot create anything valuable, let alone get it working. But what does ‘learning’ really mean in the dynamic world of IT and consultancy?

At CIMSOLUTIONS, learning is not a passive process of burying your nose in books. It is a transformation on various levels.

1. Learning to understand organizations: how is the business model structured?

Before we can write even a single line of code, design a system architecture, or provide sound advice, we must understand and get to know the client’s organization. What is the culture? What is the strategy? What is the business model? What services are provided? What products make up the product portfolio? What business capabilities exist, are missing, or can be brought to a higher maturity level? What are the internal processes? What are the preconditions? As business architects and business analysts, we specialize in mapping these business aspects in order to learn how the business model of a specific organization is structured.

In addition, CIMSOLUTIONS has also built up extensive general domain knowledge across various sectors. Domain knowledge regarding the Dutch government sector is very extensive, but there is also, for example, domain knowledge in the fields of financial services and traffic and transport.

A digital solution never stands alone; it must land in a dynamic environment. Only when you understand the structure and the dynamics can you make an impact.

2. Learning what the business really needs?

The biggest pitfall in IT is building what the customer asks for, rather than what is needed.

Learning here means: listening and asking probing questions. We uncover the actual IT need behind the request for help. What are the bottlenecks? And why? Where do the opportunities for process improvements and digitization lie? What is the definition of a successful implementation? How can this be measured and monitored? Only by getting this clear can you create a cohesive digital solution that truly adds value and genuinely accelerates business processes.

3. Learning for the client: what can IT deliver?

Learning is a two-way street. We learn from the client, but the organization also learns from us daily. We help companies understand what modern IT techniques can concretely deliver for them. Think of increased efficiency, better data insights, or a competitive edge. We translate complex and advanced techniques into tangible value, ensuring the organization is ready for the future. For the latest techniques and technologies, CIMSOLUTIONS can also offer quick scans to quickly map out the impact on an organization. And to really dive in, there are regular technical meetings where we, as consultants, present new developments to clients.

4. Learning as an employee

Finally, ‘Learn’ is deeply rooted in the DNA of the employees at CIMSOLUTIONS. The world of technology never stands still. As a CIMSOLUTIONS employee, you continue to develop yourself. Whether it concerns the appropriate use of the latest AI developments, business architectures, or soft skills; standing still means falling behind.

And even now, it is not just about burying your nose in the books. All employees are affiliated with a competence center where they learn from each other. For example, the Business Analysis Competence Center focuses continuously on new developments in the fields of business architecture, business analysis, and information analysis. Additionally, there are various special interest groups (SIGs) that regularly hold knowledge sessions that everyone can join.

Learning lays the foundation. Only when we understand the organization, fathom the IT needs, and keep our own knowledge up to date do we move on to the next phases: Create and make it work.
